With a history of over 130 years, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases "Prof. Dr. Matei Bals" is the place where important records have been written about the evolution and progress in the field of contagious diseases. This institute currently has 690 beds and has a special technical base at international standards, being fully computerized at the level of laboratories, clinical departments, pharmacy, accounting. Within this institute, adults and children are treated in six clinical departments, two intensive care units and two day-care wards. Here is the only anti-rabies center in Bucharest, while a specially built pavilion hosts the immuno-depression section.
