Between the 18th-21st of September, 2013, took place a highly scientific event, hosted for the second time by our country, at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest: The 23rd World Congress of the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO).
According to Prof. Dr. Nikolas Lygidakis, IASGO Secretary General, the main purpose of this association is to facilitate a certain levelling of the health systems around the world, from scientific as well as logistic point of view. "Thus, people around the world could have equal chances to access the medical services, since health must be accessible everywhere, not only in certain countries. IASGO militates for the advanced medical expertise to be world-spread, and all the specialists to be able to access them for the benefit of the entire population".
This edition of IASGO World Congress marked the 50th anniversary of the world first liver transplant; the other figures that characterize the size and exceptional scientific level of this event are: over 1000 specialists from 43 countries, 250 speakers from 35 countries.
The specialized exhibition that accompanied this congress was also highly-professional.
