The European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) holds the most prominent position in the community of anaesthesiologists in Europe and elsewhere. It resulted from the amalgamation of the former European Society of Anaesthesiologists (ESA), the European Academy of Anaesthesiology (EAA) and the Confederation of European National Societies of Anaesthesiologists (CENSA).
ESA aims for the highest standards of practice and safety in anaesthesia, peri-operative medicine, intensive care, emergency medicine and pain treatment through education, research and professional development throughout Europe.
The European Anaesthesiology Congress 2014 took place during May 30th and June 3rd in Stockholm, and offered a comprehensive scientific programme consisting of 6 pre-congress courses, 23 refresher courses, 68 symposia, 4 workshops, 3 interactive sessions, 11 lectures, 2 meet-the-expert sessions, 12 pro-con debates, 2 postgraduates courses as well as several guest sessions and specialist society meetings, which presented the latest research undertaken in Europe in this field of interest.
The exhibition organised along with this scientific event reunited more than 100 exhibitors from all over the world. With the highly professional organisation and high-tech appliances available to all participants, the visitors, the exhibitors and everybody present could benefit from the new technology presented in every booth, all the information and face-to-face discussions – real chance for new partnerships and new ways of improving the use of last-generation equipment and procedures in the field of anaesthesiology and intensive care.
