The First Congress of Cataract and Refractive Surgery was organised in Bucharest during the 20th-22nd of June, 2014 - a scientific event dedicated to a microspecialty with large applicability in our country.

The highly scientific approach of the main subject, and also the presence of international personalities of this field, proved that Romanian ophthalmology is nowadays at the same level with worldwide ophthalmology, as asserted by dr. Calin Tataru, President of Romanian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

This congress offered the right opportunity of launching the National Cataract Guide, which aims to standardise the diagnostic and the treatment of this illness in our country, a quite necessary landmark considering the high frequency of cataract among Romanians of all ages and considering that particular approaches are applicable based on patient's age.
